Bago is one of the archaeological sites in Myannmar. The nearest ancient city to Yangon and the royal capital of Mon Kingdom in 15^th century known as Hanthawaddy. There are some worth places to visit. Shwe Maw Daw Pagoda is the landmark of the Bago and it was built by two marchants, It is over 2000 years old and 114 m high. A reclining Buddha image, Shwe Tha Lyaung, measuring 55 m in length and 16 m in height, was built about 1 000 A.D. The Mahar Zedi was built in 1 560 A.D. Kanbawza Thadi Palace, built by King Bayintnaung in 15^th Century, is a great archaeological site in Bago. The new Palace has now been reconstructed.
