Ava, a historical capital founded in 1364, is very closed to
Amarapura and two famous monasteries can be seen there.
Mahar Aungmye Bonzan, also known as Maenu Oakkyaung, is the
brick monastery. "Nanmadaw Maenu", the chief queen of King
Bagyidaw, founder of Ava ancient palace, donated it. Another
one is Bagaya Kyaung, which is mostly made of teak. This
monastery is famous for its 267 teak pillars and the carving
on its doors and walls are still well preserved to keep the
glory of its beauty. One can enjoy the sightseeing around
Ava by taking a horse-cart. |
