Monywa is situated 122km west of Sagaing. One of
Myanmar's more famous pagodas, Thanboddhay, is there.
Powingtaung and Shwe Ba Taung are situated on the other bank
of Chindwin River from Monywa. Both are famous for their
Caves with series of Buddha images and fine stone curving
works. The entire hill was curved in Caves, Tunnels, and
Buddha Statues in 13th century. |
