It is
formerly Known as Syriam, an ancient trading centre in 17th
century is an interesting excursion which takes an
hour-drive across the longest bridge in Myanmar. There
exists a village, where one can observe all the typical ways
of life and customs of the national races of Myanmar, the
large golden Kyaik Khauk Pagoda, the ruins of an old
Portuguese Church built during the 18th century
by French missionary and the tombs of two famous Myanmar
Poet Natshinnaung and Wungyi Padethayazar are also worth
seeing. The famous Yé lè Pagoda, meaning the pagoda at the
centre of the river is about 20 km south of Thanlyin. |
