Twante is situated on the opposite bank of the Yangon River, 24 km from Yangon, and noted for its famous potery and cotton weaving. Highlights in Twante are Shwesandaw Pagoda, a Mon pagoda just a few years younger than the famous Shwedagon Pagoda, Potery Industry which supplies much of the delta region with well designed, utilitarian containers of varying shapes and sizes, are all of them hand made.
