Inle lake boat tour
Inle Lake, the second largest lake in Myanmar, is situated in the picturesque mountain area in the Shan states, just 1 h flight from Yangon. Wonderful landscapes, unusual floating gardens and markets and the unique one-leg rowing style of the local people make the lake famous all over the world.
You will have a full day boat tour around the lake visiting its prominent landmarks, observing local life, learning about traditional arts and crafts and admiring the landscapes of the rare beauty. Among the must-see sites are Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the most veneered pagoda of the lake housing five gilded images of Buddha, Indein pagoda, a recently-discovered complex of thousands of ancient stupas, local villages, well-known for their traditional handicrafts such as silk weaving, lotus weaving, silversmith and others. You will also have a chance to meet the women from the Padaung tribe who wear massive copper rings on their necks, wrists and ankles as a tribute to the century-old traditions.
